Can any Greek or Greek-American people help out with my Greek Salad recipe?

I am wondering how to make an authentic one!

Thank you.Can any Greek or Greek-American people help out with my Greek Salad recipe?
I spent a few weeks in Greece last year (Athens, Mykonos and Santorini) . Guess what, they didn't use lettuce! It's a chunky salad and you can really taste the good tomatoes and cucumbers. I make it at home now. Yum.

Ingredients:

Tomatoes

Cucumbers

Feta cheese crumbles

Red onion

Parsley

Pitted olives (I get them from my grocery store salad bar or jarred, marinated ';Greek'; style olives)

A little bit of seasoning--oregano was popular.

You can use a little olive oil if you want--I don't because after a few hours, the tomatoes create a ';juice,'; so why add more fat?!? :DCan any Greek or Greek-American people help out with my Greek Salad recipe?
An authentic Greek salad:

Tomato's room temperature

cucumber

onion sliced

kalamata olives

Greek feta, good quality

oregano

olive oil and salt

Your ingredients have to be fresh and of good quality, and no Greek tomato salad has any kind of lettuce.

If you are talking about a green salad then you need Romain ,

green onions, dill and for dressing you need olive oil and vinegar.

This salads are authentic Greek.

romaine lettece

feta cheese

greek olives

avacado

tomato

cucumber

purple onion

seasoned croutons

grilled chicken (optional)

and i use balsamic vinegar as dressing but make sure it is authentic and has been aged for at least 10 years or you could buy or make your own dressing there are thousands of recipies on the internet!!!

hope i helped
logically i would use ingredients only native to greece or that would easily be accessable in that country.

in my restaurant i use fresh:

cucumber

olives(kalamata)

tomatoe

good feta cheese(lamb or goats milk)not cow

red onion

red %26amp; green peppers

frissee(funky curly lettuce)

experiment with your own dressing using fresh herbs like oregano, thyme, basil etc..vinaigrette or emulsified dressings work good equallywell, garlic for sure.

have fun
