I had it ages ago at a bbq but forgot to get details on how to make it and all I can find are recipes that include cabbage or slaw mix %26amp; this did not have either although it did have almonds, I think. Anyway help would be appreciated!!Does anyone know a salad recipe that calls for ramen noodles, vinegar, %26amp; sugar?
Crunchy Chicken Salad
Prep Time:15 min
Start to Finish:20 min
Makes:6 servings
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 package (3 ounces) Oriental-flavor ramen noodle soup mix
2 tablespoons sesame seed
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups cut-up cooked chicken
1/2 cup dry-roasted peanuts
4 medium green onions, sliced (1/4 cup)
1 bag (16 ounces) coleslaw mix
1. Melt butter in 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Stir in seasoning packet from noodles. Break block of noodles into bite-size pieces over skillet; stir noodles into butter mixture. Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly; stir in sesame seed. Cook about 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly, until noodles are golden brown.
2. Mix sugar, vinegar, oil and pepper in large bowl. Add remaining ingredients and noodle mixture; toss.
Success
Keep your salad crunchy by tossing in the noodles just before serving.
Time Saver
Precooked frozen chicken from the meat department is a great thing to have on hand for ready-to-go recipes like this.
Variation
For extra flavor and color, stir in an 11-ounce can of mandarin orange slices, drained.Does anyone know a salad recipe that calls for ramen noodles, vinegar, %26amp; sugar?
sounds like either spaghetti salad or
sweet and sour salad
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 (3 ounce) package ramen noodles, uncooked %26amp; broken (discard spice packet, just get normal size ramen noodles, i just put 3 oz down)
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 bunch broccoli, coarsely chopped
1 head romaine lettuce, washed and chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1-1 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
Melt butter in skillet and brown walnuts %26amp; ramen noodles; cool on paper towels.
Combine browned noodles and walnuts with broccoli, lettuce, and onions in large serving bowl.
Whisk remaining four ingredients together in mixing bowl.
That's Asian Noodle Salad. Mix rice wine vinegar, sugar, a little salt and pepper and some sesame oil to make the dressing. Shred napa and red cabbage, mix in with cooked and drained ramen, top with slivered almonds. It's also good if you add some grilled chicken to it and some diced red bell pepper. Yummy!
ORIENTAL CABBAGE SALAD
6 to 8 c. chopped cabbage
1 pkg. Oriental flavored Ramen noodles, broken up (best to break with fist while still in unopened package)
3/4 c. slivered almonds
2 tbsp. sesame seeds
1/2 c. oil or less
3 tbsp. sugar ( I use 3 to 4 packets of Equal)
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 env. Ramen seasonings
Toast almonds and sesame seeds in pan on range top without oil. Add red wine vinegar to oil and add sugar and seasoning packet. Add liquid to cabbage. I use a good bowl with a tight fitting lid and shake it after adding oil and vinegar mixture. Just before serving add nuts and broken up Ramen noodles so they stay crisp. For a complete meal, add cooked cooled chicken breast (cut up) to salad. For color you can also add shredded carrots and red cabbage.

2 packages of Top Ramen
(NOODLES ONLY - crumbled)
Toast nuts and seeds in oven until browned.
Set aside to cool.
Chop cabbage and slice onions; mix together in bowl. Combine sugar, salt, pepper and Accent Seasoning together and drudge into cabbage.
Mix vinegar and oil together adding to cabbage and stir. Crumble Ramen noodles adding to cabbage along with the nuts and seeds. Stir. Refrigerate.
