Any Weird Salad Recipes? ?
Apples-Methi Chutney (Methamba Ishtyle)

2 medium sized granny smith apples, cored and cut into small pieces

2-3 tbsp oil

陆 tsp mustard seeds

2 tbsp fenugreek (methi) seeds

6-7 curry leaves

2-3 (or more) dried red chillies, stems removed

陆 tbsp (or more) brown sugar

a pinch of asafoetida

salt to taste

2 tsp lemon juice (optional, depending on the sourness of the apples)

Mix and set aside the apples, salt, and lemon juice. (I didn't use any).

Heat the oil, add the mustard seeds and asafoetida.

Add the methi seeds, curry leaves, chillies, brown sugar, and the apple mixture.

Cook for about 2-3 minutes (more if you want a mushy chutney).

Cool completely before adjusting the salt.

Stays in the refrigerator for about a week, I think.

Given the way this chutney is attacked in our home, it has never lasted that long.

This chutney tastes good with rotis, freshly steamed rice, in a sandwich, as a dip with crackers, etc. etc.

When I was in the Cook Islands we went to a several pot lucks and someone always brought ';paw paw salad';. It only had three ingredients, diced ripe papaya(about an inch) , mayonnaise (when asked, I was told that it ';had to be Best Foods';) and mild curry powder, served thoroughly chilled. It sounds like an odd combination, but it was delicious.
Every time I take this to a function I get asked for the recipe.

I swear, I mix whatever I have in the fridge with lettus and call it salad. I have even put left over fish, fruits, noodles, steaks, all kinds of veges...but I always use the same dressing because this is the part that makes it so good...SOYCHA!
