I found a lot of different recipes online, some call for whip cream, others call for sour cream, some for a mix of the two.. so I'm wondering if anyone has a recipe that they've actually used and liked?I looked online for recipes for Ambrosia Salad.. but does anyone have a recipe that they've used and liked?
i use sour cream. i never even knew some use whipped cream.

can mandarine orange drained
can pineapple chunks drained
bag of mini marsh mellows
bag of shredded coconut
my mom uses slivered almonds but i dont

I have done this recipe (from allrecipe,com) at all family gatherings, and it is excellent and easy.. Good Luck.
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 1/2 cups shredded coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 (8 ounce) can fruit cocktail, drained
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
3 cups miniature marshmallows
1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained (optional)
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
..DIRECTIONS
1.In a large bowl, combine the whipped topping, coconut, chopped nuts, fruit cocktail, pineapple, mandarin oranges, marshmallows, cherries, nutmeg and cinnamon. Mix together well and refrigerate for 30 to 45 minutes.
This is my mom's favorite salad
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
3 bananas, sliced
2 cups flaked coconut
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 cup pecan pieces
1 (16 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 cup maraschino cherries
In a large bowl, combine mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, bananas, coconut, marshmallows, and pecan pieces. Fold in whipped topping. Garnish with maraschino cherries. Chill for 1 hour or overnight
